David’s Club

On Monday English corner , we introduced the concept of “warm up ” and performing it together.Practiced receiving , controlling and short-passing the ball .

We also introduced stretching & performed it , all kids were involved and enjoyed it .

Mark’s Club

This week saw the arrive of a new tennis ball, which of course meant the resumption of handball. Some students appeared to have forgot the rules on Monday, but by Wednesday were (for the most part) once again familiar with how to play.

Unfortunately the majority of students are having difficulty hitting a ball as small as a tennis ball using only their hand - next week we might address this with some exercises to increase hand-eye coordination and ball control.

Orlando’s Club

This week Grade 1 and 2 played a marvelous game of Dodge ball. They were able to within a small space, throw the ball at one another, to make the next person become the person to throw the ball. They were able to have a lot of fun tying to run away from the ball. After Mr Orlando demonstrated the game, both grades were able to pick up the rules of the game very well.

As the games progressed, the students got more and more competitive. Mr Orlando began to change the rules, to make the game a little trickier for the younger grades. They took the difficulty level of the game as a challenge and began to tackle it well, laughing at how problematic the games got.

Brendan’s Club

For English corner this week (and for one or two classes of next week) we are watching the movie Back to the Future.

It's a movie from 1985 about high school student named Marty who accidentally travels through time to 1955, and meets his parents when they were also in high school. After the movie , we will answer some questions about the movie .

Irina’s Club

Last week on an English Corner we played “What Time Is It, Mr. Wolf?”

I lined up students against the back wall. Then I chose one student as a wolf. He (she) stood with his/her back turned to the class. The students had to ask the Wolf "What time is it, Mr. Wolf?". The Wolf answered with a random time, e.g. "It's four o'clock" - the students took four steps toward the Wolf.

The students had to move the corresponding number of steps. If the Wolf said "It's lunch time!",the students had to run to safety. That student, who was tagged, became a Wolf in the next round. And another English Corner activity was a running race.

Daniel’s Club

For English corner this week I decided to implement 3 mini games as opposed to one activity.

After asking the students what games they enjoyed the most over the past few weeks.

In the end we decided on a combination of 'duck duck goose' 'farmer farmer may I cross your golden bridge?' And 'Marco polo'.
